The Board of the International Society for Plastics Engineering
agreed at its regular meeting in early March to take a clear position in light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and to help with the resources at our disposal.
We condemn the war in Ukraine and the violation of elementary humanitarian rules and international law in the strongest possible terms. The brutal and ruthless actions of the Russian aggressors against the state and the people of Ukraine shake us to the core every day.
As a non-profit association, we have been supporting innovation in plastics technology for more than three decades, including through the SPE Automotive Award. Innovations arise through peaceful communication and cooperation; they are forward-looking solutions that enable people to live better lives. War and violence, on the other hand, destroy trust, networks, cooperation, and the future of many people. Nothing is improved here; only immeasurable suffering is created!
Unfortunately, as an association, there is little we can do against a brutal aggressor. The only thing we can do is help alleviate the suffering of the Ukrainian population through a donation. Our donation of 1,000 euros goes to Aktion Deutschland Hilft.
At the same time, we would like to call on our sponsors and partner companies to do the same and ask them to use the means at their disposal to support Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invaders.
