Purposes and Objectives

The International Society for Plastics Engineering (registered association) was founded in 1986 by plastics enthusiasts from Germany, Austria and Switzerland with the aim of promoting exchange between scientists and engineers from all areas of plastics engineering.

Within the Society of Plastic Engineers, the non-profit organization forms the Central Europe Section, which today also includes Affiliate Sections in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Russia.

Over the years, our non-profit organization has developed a wide range of international and interdisciplinary activities and platforms. These include major conferences such as the International Plastics Forum and the Management Forum, as well as a study on the long-term development of the plastics processing industry.

The study showed that the development of new polymer materials and the associated processing technologies is mostly initiated by the automotive industry. Accordingly, SPE Central Europe placed this innovation driver in plastics at the heart of its work and has been awarding the SPE AutomotiveAward since 1992.

Our Tasks

Formulating and representing the interests of all those working in the plastics industry in Germany, Austria and Switzerland
Disseminating scientific and technical knowledge about plastics
Promoting national and international technical and scientific exchange of ideas between plastics producers, plastics processors and plastics users
Promoting cooperation between industry, universities and research institutions in implementing technical and scientific findings
Representing the interests of primarily nationally oriented associations within organizations operating at international level
Cooperating with all other associations pursuing the same objectives, in particular with SPE International
Articulating the concerns of the industry vis-à-vis public administration, authorities and institutions
Organizing events that serve the exchange of ideas within the industry and with other industries
