24th AutomotiveAward 2027
Innovative Plastic Automotive Components Wanted
Three, two, one – here we go! On October 5, 2026, the Call for Parts and Components for the 24th SPE AutomotiveAward 2027 will start! Once again, we are looking for highly innovative plastic applications, components, technologies, and processes for vehicle manufacturing. As in previous competitions, plastic components can be submitted in seven categories:
- Body Interior
- Body Exterior
- Power Train
- New Mobility
- Chassis Unit / Structural Component
- Electronical / Optical Part
- Enabler Technology
The “Enabler Technology” category allows for the submission of new concept ideas, prototypes, innovative operating equipment, automation solutions, or new processes; in all other categories, only series applications are permitted. Submission documents can be downloaded from the website www.automotiveaward.de. The submission deadline is January 20, 2027.
All companies involved in development and production can submit a component – this includes plastic processors, raw material producers, tool and machine manufacturers, engineering and design offices, as well as vehicle manufacturers and system suppliers. All submissions are evaluated by an independent jury, comprising experts from all areas of plastics technology and automotive engineering, based on objective criteria. This ensures that not only products from large companies but also developments from small and medium-sized firms have a chance to win the recognized and coveted prize. The Award Night will take place in Bonn at the end of May 2027.
In addition to the category awards, several Special Awards will be presented. With the Sustainability Award, SPE Central Europe recognizes a demonstrably significantly improved overall ecological performance of a component. The Grand Innovation Award is given to the part that is most frequently rated as highly innovative by the jury members. The Grand Award honors the submission with the highest score across all categories.

SPE AutomotiveAward – A Success Story
The Automotive Division Award, which SPE Central Europe, a section of the Society of Plastics Engineers Inc., has been inviting entries for every 18 months since 1992, is known in the industry for the high quality of its submissions and its objective evaluation criteria. The competition has been and continues to be supported by many companies in the plastics industry. Currently, Akro-Plastic, almaak International, EMS-Chemie, Grafe, Kuraray, LyondellBasell, Syensqo, and Yizumi are sponsoring the competition.
